Recently, I attended the ICA conference in Paris. For my Swedish friends – no, not the supermarket. It was the first in-person conference since the Covid pandemic. Finally!
I presented my work from the VARME project. The first presentation was about how different dimensions of ideology affected beliefs about climate change and antibiotic resistance. The presentation was based on the paper that was recently published in Public Understanding of Science here.
The second presentation was about how beliefs about societal issue organize in the mind – and how media use contributes to that. Main take-away: beliefs organize across issues but along the a positive-negative continuum. And people using tabloid or alternative media have a rather negative belief structure.
